Buprenorphine Waiver Training Advanced Review Module (UPDATED)

This 1-hour review course is provided by AAAP FREE of charge and intended for physicians who have completed the 8 hour required training to obtain their waiver to prescribe buprenorphine but who would like an UPDATE.

The “PCSSMAT Bup Advanced Review” covers the following topics:

  • epidemiology of the opioid epidemic opioid overdose pattern, and safety considerations for buprenorphine.
  • practitioner requirements for buprenorphine prescribing under the DATA 2000 Controlled Substance Act.
  • pharmacology of buprenorphine and the available clinical forms
  • review of the guidelines for office-based treatment of opioid use disorder with buprenorphine/naloxone, including induction strategies and maintenance dosing, as well as management of relapses is also mentioned.
  • treatment of patients with concurrent psychiatric illness or substance dependence
  • clinical strategies for minimizing abuse and diversion.
  • empirical data supporting the safety profile for buprenorphine, optimal dosing for relapse prevention, and rates of long-term treatment retention.

How to Receive CME Credits:
Upon completion of the Post Test:

  • If you pass the Post Test with a grade of 70% or higher, you will be instructed to click a link which will bring you to the Online Module Evaluation Survey. Upon completion of the Online Module Evaluation Survey, you will receive a CME Credit Certificate or Certificate of Completion via email.
  • If you received a grade of 69% or lower on the Post Test, you will be instructed to review the Online Module once more and retake the Post Test. You will then be instructed to click a link which will bring you to the Online Module Evaluation Survey. Upon completion of the Online Module Evaluation Survey, you will receive a CME Credit Certificate or Certificate of Completion via email.
  • After successfully passing the Post Test, you will receive an email detailing correct answers, explanations and references for each question of the Post Test.
