On behalf of PCSS-MAT and our Partner Organizations, we are pleased to announce the following PCSS-MAT Mini Grant Round 1 awardees:
- American Society for Pain Management Nursing (ASPMN) has been awarded a PCSS-MAT Mini Grant for their proposal “Safe and Effective Pharmacological Pain Management for Older Adults” to revise the pharmacology content of a geriatric pain management course. Specific areas that need revision include: drug selection and route selection based upon risk-benefit analysis for older individuals and inclusion of universal precautions for safe opioid prescription. In addition, the program will utilize the materials (modules, archived webinars and other resources) available through the PCSS-MAT and PCSS-O websites. The Geriatric Master faculty will appoint members to revise the slides. ASPMN will use an evaluation instrument, including a 10-item posttest, administered via the Web.
- National Council for Behavioral Health (NCBH) has been awarded a PCSS-MAT Mini Grant for their proposal “PCSS-MAT Presentation at National Council Conference May 5-7, 2014.” Funds will be used for travel, accommodations, meals, conference fees and National Council Staff time. The presentation will include a 60 minute session overviewing PCSS-MAT program and various tools and web resources available through PCSS-MAT. Two experts from the PCSS-MAT Steering Committee will provide an interactive webinar to an audience of prescribers and non-prescribers informing them of the PCSS-MAT program and tools and resources available. NCBH has implemented an electronic evaluation process that is utilized for all workshops at NCBH conferences.
We look forward to working more closely with each organization and sharing highlights and successes of their projects as they move forward.
